The stuff we like to gloss over because looking too hard at what we do to ourselves makes us feel guilty, and guilt leads to shame, and shame leads to repression, which in turn leads to doing the bad stuff to yourself to hide the guilt. Life is beautifully and regrettably circular until you choose to level up.
