Standing room only at the NHLA Power Hour yesterday.
I was heartened to see new people fired up to get involved. I was more heartened by the good advice given, which was:
GET INVOLVED IN YOUR LOCAL COMMUNITY.
I have been saying this for years.
Want to change the world? Change what YOU are doing in the world.
Find a passion and contribute locally.
For example:
My husband, Louis Calitz, serves on the Piscataquag River Park board in West Manchester. We often spend our Sundays picking up litter and dragging trash cans around the park.
I serve on the boards of Right-to-Know NH and the Foundation for NH Independence.
What about joining a local Rotary? Or coaching a soccer team? Volunteer for Meals on Wheels? Maybe run for Library Trustee?
The goal isn’t to be POLITICAL. The goal is to be a LIKEABLE HUMAN who people would want as a NEIGHBOR.
Sometimes, I’m struck by the notion that some liberty activists outsource THE NOW. Some behave like “one day, when things are perfectly to my liking, THEN I will get involved and be the role model decent human I talk about.”
Well, folks, that time is NOW because all you have is the present.
Find one way per week IRL to contribute to furthering your goal of Liberty in Our Lifetime, because when you do, you’ll discover the No. 1 secret of the Free State:
Here, LIBERTY IS A LIFESTYLE.
And it is YOUR life you are living! Go embody your vision!
