Morning started with Obi getting skunked at 5:30AM but improved from there. We do quarterly goal planning and try to make a weekend of it but we’re just too busy to swing a couple of days right now… but one? Yes!
Day trip to Portland! During the 1.5 to 2 hour drive, we reviewed past goals and listed areas of improvement.
In the City (didn’t use GPS!) we took Obi for a long walk on the esplanade, a favorite walk with Nellie before her. It reminded me how unwell I’d been, and how much lighter my experience was today. Physically but also spiritually.
I’m content. And that’s earned, through learning what is enough. Being able to take that deep breath allows you to start growing in the right directions.
Then I cheated. With all the carbs.
The waits at restaurants were bananas. Eventide, our first choice, where I could easily not cheat, had a 2 hour wait. Duck Fat had an hour. YOU do the math.
It didn’t hurt that their food is delish and the duck fat fries nommy, the beets were INSANE with radish and goats cheese, but honestly, with the panini? I’m over bread. Could have happily substituted a salad instead. Yay me!
Quick stop at an antique store in a new neighborhood, thereby hitting 2 goals from previous years, look at me go!, and got an encyclopedia of food for $22 and it opens with Aardvark.
Rec clinic, because it’s an industry I am curious about. First stopped at a medical only but they set me on my way to where I needed to go. Good experience.
Home by 5:30, in time for late afternoon chores. Today not only did I appreciate having such a great partner, Louis Calitz who even after almost 30 years, still holds my hand when we walk, but that I knew to feel that joy, and the joy of still being able to see unicorns, wherever they appear.
