PorcFest XXII: “Taste the Revolution” at the 2025 Porcupine Freedom Festival in New Hampshire
Lancaster, NH – June 5, 2025 – The Free State Project, a groundbreaking movement to build a libertarian stronghold in New Hampshire, is thrilled to announce PorcFest XXII, the 22nd annual Porcupine Freedom Festival, taking place June 16–22, 2025 at the legendary Roger’s Campground in Lancaster, NH.
This year’s theme, “Taste the Revolution,” invites thousands of attendees to experience the radical flavors of liberty through bold conversation, hands-on learning, and a festival atmosphere like no other. With a reputation as the largest and liveliest liberty event in the world, PorcFest is where the “Live Free or Die” ethos isn’t just a motto—it’s a lifestyle.
A Living Marketplace of Liberty
More than a festival, PorcFest is a weeklong, open-air experiment in decentralized living. Picture a campground turned micro-nation: no central authority, no gatekeeping, just voluntary interactions, vendor villages, spontaneous debates, renegade talks, and family fun.
Attendees create their own experience—from fire pit philosophy to barter booths, crypto workshops to goat yoga, and yes, even the beloved One Pot Cook-Off, back by popular demand on Thursday night.
Ross Ulbricht: From Prisoner to Pioneer
In a momentous homecoming for the liberty movement, Ross Ulbricht, the founder of the Silk Road and a pivotal early adopter of Bitcoin, will attend PorcFest after his January 2025 presidential pardon by Donald J. Trump.
Ross will attend PorcFest alongside his wife, Caroline, and his tireless advocate and mother, Lyn Ulbricht. Their presence marks a full-circle moment: The Free State Project helped launch the “Free Ross” campaign in 2015, using New Hampshire’s First-in-the-Nation status to push his case into the national spotlight.
“Our perseverance paid off,” said Carla Gericke, FSP Chairwoman. “Ross’s freedom proves what decentralized, grassroots activism can achieve. We fought for justice—and we won. Now we celebrate.”

Just got back from a lunch with Ross, his wife, Caroline, and of course, Lyn Ulbricht, the bestest mom in the world. They will all be at PorcFest is a few short weeks.

I too feel empathy for Elon, but also, I have been warning mad dreamers about the trap of the Hell Mouth of DC, the Corrupt Capitol, for decades. I rightly gave up on reforming that sinking ship almost 20 years ago. Instead, I have thrown in my lot and life with the Free State of New Hampshire, the best option left for people who value the American spirit of:
Free speech
Color-blind equality
Meritocracy
Hard work
Individual responsibility
Here in New Hampshire, we have been quietly building our libertarian homeland. A place to seek refuge, yes, but mostly a place to come build the coolest future you can imagine.
We have it all: coastline and mountains, a deep sea port and an international border. We have quaint New England towns, mill buildings, and lakes. We have pristine Nature, and Nuclear. We have legalized flying cars and, last week, the world’s first Bitcoin Reserve Fund.
Article 10 of the NH Constitution enshrines the Right of Revolution. I have been pushing for peaceful secession for years, even introducing bills to this effect. If DC cannot be reformed (and I contend it cannot), then we have a duty to do better.
The Free State of New Hampshire is the answer.

Few things make me happier than seeing the heart of PorcFest and the libertarian movement–the community–we are building in New Hampshire well-captured. Great to see so many movers I know featured, and fantastic job by Dennis Pratt, David Friedman (nice chocolate chip cookies shout out!), and Matthew Barney, a recent mover who is working on Trumind.ai.
Squee! PorcFest is coming up! This, the Year of Our Porcupine 2024, is the first time since 2009 that I have not helped load the PorcFest truck.
I have mixed feelings about this. The “people pleaser” in me (that I’m slowly murdering) is panicking that I SHOULD HAVE BEEN THERE. The “I’m growing into new and different things” part of me is sighing a deep sigh of relief.
I am deeply grateful to everyone who showed up. Thank you!

How do I know? That YET is important. That YET is doing a lot of work. That YET is the key to a growth mindset and is a very important key to excellent interpersonal relationships when dealing with voluntary teams.
Why?
Because that “yet” allows you to include everyone who has come before while anticipating the improvements and innovations that will be revealed this year. That “yet” honors all the people who have contributed to making TWENTY ONE YEARS of PorcFests happen.
So many egos.
So much drama.
But here’s the reality, guys… THIS IS JUST LIFE.
There is NO PERFECT MOMENT. There is NO UTOPIA. There is NO VALHALLA. There is no ONE DAY I’LL…
There is only NOW, and what YOU are doing in every moment.
Yes, PorcFest is a fun time to let your hair down, but it is also YOUR chance to practice mindful personal responsibility.
The flip-side of freedom is HOW ARE YOU SHOWING UP IRL?
Please be considerate of your fellow campers. Please respect the campgrounds 11PM silence (yes, you need to switch off your music). If you want to hang and chat, there is only one spot: down on the field at the bonfire.
Live free, but also, don’t be an asshole. 
Let’s get rocking for a weeklong celebration of our beautiful project. Let’s put our best feet forward to embrace and welcome potential Porcupines to our libertarian homeland. Let’s show up with beauty and love. Let’s shine like the beacon of liberty we are. It starts and ends, with YOU!
